There are 144 solar panels on the RiverCentre roof, each nearly 8 feet tall and 20 feet wide. Energy produced by the solar panels will mostly be used by the RiverCentre for heating and domestic hot water needs. Excess energy will be returned to the District Energy heating loop.
Project was awarded a Renewable Energy Award from the City of St. Paul’s Sustainable St. Paul Award program, as well as one of five innovation awards from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) under the category of community renewables.
To prepare the RiverCentre for the new solar heat source, Pioneer Power demoed the existing piping and exchangers, supplied and installed the hot and cool piping systems, and supplied and set the mechanical equipment.
